"I find schoolwork easier to understand and complete. My mental arithmetic has improved and I can do my sums in my head."
Kumon benefits children of all ages and abilities. In addition to improving maths and English skills, Kumon study improves a child's study skills, encouraging independence in learning. It encourages children to take ownership of their studies.
A major advantage of the Kumon programme is that it is individualised and continues all year around. While summer holidays are important for rest and recreation, the structure of the Kumon programme encourages children to continue with a small amount of daily study. Children return to school after the holidays with improved study skills.
Children progress at a pace that is unique to them. As they master work, they are given new work. Therefore children may work well ahead of their school level if they have the ability, desire and skills to do so. Children who require more time than their peers to master their work, may do so, also.
Kumon differs from grinds or private tuition in this respect also. The programme encourages students to work independently and helps develop learning skills and focus.
For early learners, the worksheets are colourful and fun.
