"I get the most satisfaction from seeing someone who first came to Kumon struggling with maths develop into a capable mathematician with the confidence and study skills to tackle any problem."
My first introduction to Kumon was in Malaysia, where I grew up. I was already living and working in Ireland, married to David and visiting my family, in Kuala Lumpur. My niece, aged three at the time was studying the Kumon maths programme.
On a subsequent visit, her maths ability impressed me so much, I began to consider it for my own children. The more I learned about the Kumon programme, the more I wanted to know, which started me on the path of my journey to becoming a Kumon Instructor.
My daughters, Nicole and Camille, inspired me to become an Instructor but all my students are my motivation to keep developing as an Instructor. The progress of my students in their Kumon work, their improved confidence and study skills and the progress with their school work, is my reward.
I grew up in the cosmopolitan city of Kuala Lumpur and the value of education was instilled in me from a very early age.
Currently, I am a part-time GP, in practice every morning, and a Kumon Instructor, the rest of the time. As a working mum, whose children study Kumon, I am in a strong position to understand the commitment and dedication of Kumon parents, who enrol their children in this excellent programme. Also, I get to experience the benefits of Kumon study firsthand.
I am married to David Browne, who is the Kumon Instructor in Wicklow, who supports me at my centre on Saturdays.
The Bray Centre first opened in February 2009 in a school hall, at Ravenswell and moved this August to Christchurch, Church Road, Bray and its beautiful grounds.
