Mercedes & Phoenix Arn-Horn, both aged 13 Subjects: Maths & Reading (English) Start date: May 2003 Start level: 3A

Hi everyone. We are Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn and have been in Kumon maths and reading programmes for four years. We are home schooled and joined Kumon to improve our maths and reading skills. We are twins and have progressed at exactly the same rate through both programs and are now working in Level J in reading and level E in maths. Kumon has really helped us augment our maths skills and the reading program has been especially beneficial in improving our spelling, punctuation and grammar which has helped immensely in our writing. Both of us are now published authors, Phoenix having two books published and Mercedes one. Our last two novels were published in December, 2006.

Besides Kumon and writing, we are quite involved in music and entertainment. We both sing play guitar, piano, cello, harp and hand drums and will be releasing our first CD shortly. We also act in plays and musical theatre and we were both in The Lord Of The Rings Symphony last year when it played in Ontario, Toronto and Kitchener here in Canada. We have been in several television commercials and had key roles in an episode of the TV series 'Missing.' We have also earned our brown belts in Karate. So as you can see, with Kumon and everything else, we have full and interesting lives.
