"I get the most satisfaction from seeing someone who first came to Kumon struggling with maths develop into a capable mathematician with the confidence and study skills to tackle any problem."
Owen Braun, Instructor of the Douglas & Wilton Study Centres

About the centre

The centre is open all year round, because Kumon believes, that this is the best way to support our students in establishing and maintaining a daily study habit. It also means that students may join the program at any time. There are currently no set arrival times – children arrive at any convenient time (but no later that 4.30pm if studying one subject, and 4.10pm if studying both subjects) and usually stay for about 30 minutes to study one subject, and about 50 minutes for dual subjects.

Enrolment

The no obligation enrolment is an opportunity for parents and students to find out about the Kumon program in some detail. It is also an opportunity to establish what the students and parents are hoping to achieve by embarking on the program. It usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. All students are assessed prior to attending their first class, to determine where they should start on the program. This assessment usually takes about 15 minutes per subject and is completed during the enrolment session.

It is vital that both parents and students understand exactly what Kumon entails if the full benefits are to be obtained from the program. Therefore it is important that the enrolment session is two - way and questions are positively encouraged. After the assessment, I will talk about your child's starting point and the amount of progress I would expect in the first and subsequent years of completing the program.

Payment of the registration fee and the first month's fees are due on or before the agreed start date, and it should be noted that all subsequent payments are to be made by bank standing order.
