The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child, developing their ability and nurturing their independence.
The Kumon Drogheda North Study Centre runs from The Barbican Centre (St. Peter’s Parish), in the heart of Drogheda adjacent to the Laurence Town Shopping Centre.
Students of all ages and abilities attend the centre, with current students ranging from preschool through to leaving certificate age.
For children who are struggling Kumon identifies and addresses the gaps in their learning, and for children who have a good grounding in the subjects it supports their further development.
Following an initial assessment, students begin their study at a comfortable starting point and gradually move through the programmes as they master each new topic, all the while developing in confidence and in their ability to self-learn.
Kumon not only supports a child's academic skills but also builds upon their softer study skills such as concentration, focus, motivation, perseverance, and other skills necessary for them to achieve their full potential.
In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child can also attend the study centre up to twice a week, usually for about 30 mins per subject. Students are observed in class and their progress carefully recorded so they continue on progressing at a steady, just-right pace.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
