My name is Leigh and I joined Kumon in 2005. I first became aware of the Kumon study programmes when my children studied in Cork. I had always loved maths and logic and the structured nature of the Kumon programmes appealed to me. I was also an avid reader – authors such as Ian Fleming and Robert Ludlum, but the English programme has exposed me to a broader range of authors and interests.
I graduated from university with a science degree, but my background is in IT management. I was primarily responsible for the development of staff; setting and monitoring targets, motivation and encouragement; reviews and appraisals. These skills proved to be very relevant and transferable to my role as a Kumon Instructor.
I’m also a keen sportsman, currently trying to master the art of golf. As such, I recognise the importance of regular practice and see a synergy with the Kumon programmes. I’m proud to be the longest established Kumon Instructor in Ireland and of the achievements of my students. They are a constant source of inspiration. I enjoy seeing them improve and the confidence that success brings. I have also been the Instructor at the Wilton study centre since 2011.
