"It is so rewarding as an Instructor to hear that Kumon is really helping the students in all areas of their school life."
Nina Cafolla, former Instructor of the Wicklow Study Centre

About the centre

Visits to class are enjoyable and confidence boosting, with students receiving positive feedback from Celia the Instructor, and her excellent assistants – Laura and Shona.

Children are always welcomed into the class by Celia and her staff and although students are initally guided through the class routine until it is familiar to them most students are very quickly able to organise themselves without help.

Students independence and self-confidence is able to develop class by class as students' self-esteem increases and they begin to take responsibility for their own learning.

Completed homework is exchanged for new work and while classwork is being completed records are updated and changes made to individual programmes of study, if required.

In class, students work on a variety of work depending on their position within their individual programme. These include working on the next part of their course, learning new skills or completing an end-of-level assessment. Classwork is supervised by the Instructor who gives individual guidance to students, as required.

While work is being marked students can complete additional activities to further develop their understanding of their subject. Students are able to work on their oral work with testing on addition, subtraction, multiplication and oral reading for English students.

As soon as work has been marked students correct any errors immediately so that that can complete and understand each piece of work to a 100% on a daily basis. They then see the Instructor to discuss their work and she will provide Feedback on their performance and guidance on their way forward.

Finally, they collect their reward stickers before leaving with their homework assignments. This is just one of the ways in which students are encouraged to complete their work every day.

Whatever the activity, the aim of the class visit is to encourage students to aim high and to build self-confidence and excellent study skills that will equip them for life.
