"It is so rewarding as an Instructor to hear that Kumon is really helping the students in all areas of their school life."
My background begins with a BA in Economics and English, from University College Dublin, in 1991. I spent most of my working life in Retail Management. This included a combination of small independent stores, where there was great emphasis on excellence and in attention to detail and large multiple chain stores, where I was fortunate to hone my skills, in staff training, and running seminars for management colleagues.
My introduction to Kumon and the Kumon method, came through family. My wife, Sunita,(Bray Instructor) and I were on holiday in Malaysia and we observed our three year old niece doing her Kumon work. Many questions and conversations later, we both realised the fantastic advantages Kumon can confer. Sunita opened the Bray centre in February 2009 and I took over the Wicklow centre in September 2009. The centre has grown in numbers and from strength to strength since.
Kumon, (as I have discovered for myself), is so much more than a maths and English programme. It develops self-learning from the start and is individualised, so that every student can progress at a pace best suited to their needs and wants. Within the Kumon family, I have had the added advantage of observing my own two children, as they grow in confidence, motivation and ability, due to the latent talents they are now engaging, through focused Kumon study.
Originally a Shillelagh man, now living in Rathdrum, I feel privileged to be part of a growing international community of professional educators. It is truly amazing to watch a child's self-belief come alive. I feel proud of what we are achieving in Wicklow.
