Irish Kumon students compete in national charity Mathathon

Local students from the Kumon centres in Ireland did their sums for charity and raised money for the people of Haiti who suffered in the devastating earthquake earlier this year. At all the centres in the week beginning 8 March, students and their parents were challenged to a race against time as they completed as many sums as they could in ten minutes. In total there were over 50,000 sums completed during the week.

Students raised over €1800 for the worthwhile charity HAVEN, which is organising for 250 volunteers to go to Haiti for 'Build it Week' on 25 April. During this week Owen Braun, Kumon Instructor Douglas and Wilton in Cork, and other volunteers will be travelling to Haiti and working together to help rebuild homes, communities and facilities for some of the poorest people who have been affected by the earthquake.
