About our centre
The Kumon maths and English Study Programmes aim to bring out the best in every child, regardless of age or ability, and help them to reach their potential and foster a love of learning. Through individualised programmes with work set at just the right level, your child will be able to build strong learning foundations, not only developing ability in maths and English but transferable skills that will help them achieve across all subjects.
Children learn through example questions in our worksheets along with Instructor guidance. This method of learning offers so much more than traditional tuition: it nurtures your child’s independence, developing strong self-learning skills to give them the tools to help them excel in the future. Because Kumon does not follow the school curriculum and work is set according to ability, irrespective of age, our programmes allow learners both to fill in any missing gaps in their study foundations as well as the opportunity to work ahead of their school grade level. Your local Instructor will assess your child to determine at what point in the programme they should begin their Kumon study, then through daily work coupled with up to twice weekly study centre visits, they will build both self-confidence and crucial skills in small manageable steps.

About your Instructor
My relationship with Maths and English began long before my professional journey in education. As a young student, I came to understand that these subjects were not simply academic requirements; they were tools that shaped how I thought, communicated, and approached the world around me.
Maths gave me clarity, discipline, and a structured way to navigate complex problems. English gave me the confidence to express myself, to understand others, and to communicate with purpose. Together, they formed the foundation of how I reason, learn, and lead.
Throughout my career, working across diverse education systems and designing learning programmes internationally, I observed a consistent truth: individuals who excel, whether in leadership, innovation, science, business, or creative fields, almost always possess strong foundational skills in Maths and English.
The strategist able to analyse with precision, the communicator who inspires, the scientist driven by curiosity, the entrepreneur who sees possibilities, and the leader who transforms organisations, all draw upon these early competencies. Their achievements are rooted in the confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills they developed as children. This insight has shaped one of my core professional beliefs: strong early foundations are essential to lifelong success.
When children become confident in Maths and English at a young age, they are not simply mastering subjects, they are developing the mindset and habits that empower them to grow into capable thinkers, problem-solvers, and future leaders. This is what drew me to Kumon.
Kumon embodies the values I have seen in high achievers around the world:
• Consistency
• Independence
• Self-discipline
• A commitment to continuous improvement
Through Kumon, children do more than learn to calculate or read with clarity. They develop resilience, focus, and the belief in their own ability to overcome challenges, qualities that serve them throughout life.
My commitment is clear:
to help children build strong academic and personal foundations that unlock their potential and prepare them for the future. Because when a child gains confidence in Maths and English, they acquire skills that extend far beyond the classroom, skills that enable them to succeed anywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
