The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre up to twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

About the Instructor

Hello, my name is Gráinne, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the Instructor at the Kumon Mullingar Study Centre.

I have earned both a Bachelor of Education degree and a Master’s degree in Education and have over thirty years of experience working in a variety of teaching and senior leadership roles in a secondary school. I gained a large amount of valuable experience in these positions and was fortunate enough to be able to guide and nurture the students there.

I have always had a deep interest in education and how children learn. My two sons studied with Kumon and I was very impressed with the improvements they made in both literacy and numeracy through their efforts. I believe that the Kumon Method is an effective tool that any child, regardless of age or ability, can use to advance their academic and learning skills. As the work is tailored to each child’s individual needs, it enables them to each progress at their own pace.

As a Kumon Instructor, I am there to guide your child while they are in the centre, and to provide them additional worksheets for the days that they do not attend. You can choose for these worksheets to be in either the traditional paper and pencil format, or to access them digitally via KUMON CONNECT using a tablet and stylus.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Kumon Mullingar Study Centre and working with you as your child begins their Kumon learning journey. Please contact me so we can discuss the progress your child will be able to make.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
