The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre up to twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

About the Instructor

My name is Simon and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Greystones Study Centre. I have a degree in Finance and Computing and have spent 30 years working internationally across a variety of start-up and multinational companies and also in business for myself. In both my professional career and as a parent, I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of education and am delighted to be bringing new opportunities to children in the North Wicklow area with the opening of the Kumon Greystones Study Centre.

My own children studied Kumon and I was incredibly impressed by how effective it is as a learning method, the progress they made and the many benefits that came from their study. Being able to implement a daily work programme with the Kumon worksheets was incredible. The programme is planned and implemented individually for every child, ensuring that each child starts at the ‘just right’ level. Parents play a crucial role in this learning journey, which is why regular updates are part and parcel of the programme, ensuring parents are kept informed of their children's progress every step of the way.

At the Kumon Greystones Study Centre, we strive to develop the full potential of every child, enabling students to become independent by fostering in them the mindset and skills for self-learning. Kumon can restore the self-confidence of children who, for a variety of reasons, may have fallen behind at school. It also works beautifully for those children who may not be challenged enough at school and allows them to progress beyond their school grade.

Please get in touch to discuss how we can work with your child and help them achieve their full potential.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
